eWedding uses a very detailed, yet easy to understand account portal. The overall wedding site builder is divided into different sections that you can customize to your heart’s content. The service presents a generic layout at the start, but you can create your own by adding, removing or modifying existing ones. There are sections dedicated to introducing the happy couple, their best men and bridesmaids, and areas that inform the guests about the reception and location. Then comes the really interesting part, where you can add funny quizzes about the couple, display quotes, or show the wish list of theirs. There is even a place where you can read the couple’s personal thoughts via blog posts. But as we said, this isn’t the end, as creative users can further improve the list. Naturally, these sections are the perfect ground to put up as many pictures as you can put your hands on. All these options might sound puzzling at first, but a quick glance is enough to gain confidence and start customizing away.

Extra features

We would like to comment on the subtle but commendable touches of eWedding, like the clip show at the front page, or the ability to add your favorite music to the mix. A fun addition is the ability to add your dating timeline to your website to unfold how your romance has evolved. We also liked that you can receive up to 125 notifications about the decision of your guests forwarded to your phone, so you don’t have to constantly check on things to know who has RSVPed and who hasn’t.

A strong focus is always important in the 21st century, as people use their smartphones all the time. It’s not a big surprise that website builders recognized the potential this holds for weddings. eWedding supports most devices with a touchscreen, with a certain limit. As you can see, the service is 100% smartphone compatible, which means that you can both read and edit your wedding site from your mobile. This is a nice touch in favor of people who are always on the go but don’t want to lose touch of their wedding planning. You are also entitled to apply last minute changes, or read the forwarded text messages about the guest’s RSVP. The only missed feature is a standalone app for Android and iOS phones, as a number of other wedding website builders have superb native apps that we’ve come to love.

We would like to point out that even the locked themes can be tried out, and you’ll find some well-crafted and funny ones among them, such as “Candy”, which borrows visual elements from the hit game Candy Crush. The only flaw we found was that the themes might vary in colors, but they don’t change overall layout of the wedding site, thus all of them feel the same.

We were pleasantly surprised by the generosity of eWedding, as they provide a means for couples to draft their wedding site for free. Furthermore, the free account remains available forever, and won’t expire suddenly. Although it comes with some restrictions, like fewer themes and limited photo galleries, you can still create something memorable. The Premium plan promises noteworthy benefits, such as a custom domain address, text notifications about the RSVP replies, face detection technology, advanced guest list and so on. The basic cost for such rich service is $7 per month, which is quite budget-friendly. This, however, can be altered with extra services. You can change the domain address to something like .sexy or .rocks for a one-time fee, ranging from $29 to $69. If you wish to remove the eWedding banners for the favor of a white label, it costs $47. You also can add custom email forwarding addresses for $22, or get your page indexed for Google searches for another $22. These are entirely optional though, and if you wish so, you can turn your account back to its free state.

We can recommend giving eWedding a shot. They provide a strong wedding site service, and most importantly there is a free account that can be used as long as you want. There is a strong emphasis on the easy to use interface, and thus creating a custom wedding site is a breeze. There are some strong features as well, like the text notifications about the guest’s reply, the Instagram integration or the possibility to add background music. You can add and remove different sections, but enthusiastic couples might end up with an overly long site that is a chore to go through. eWedding also lacks a good variety of designs, and the themes don’t change the layout itself, which remains the same. As we said, the free to use account compensates for these small flaws, and even if you upgrade to a Premium account, you don’t need to dig deep into your pockets.
